Who am I?

I am a certified life coach, award-winning author, wife, mother,  international public speaker, support group leader & mentor, and alopecia advocate & educator. I am the host of the Alopecia Life podcast, and I can also make a killer stir fry with just about anything I find in the fridge.

Almost a decade ago, I began completely losing my hair for the second time in my life. I was married and had a baby on the way. I owned a successful business and had built my home from the ground up with my husband. On the outside, the building blocks for being in the perfect place in my life were all aligned. On the inside, I was struggling with the loss of my hair. I felt inadequate and embarrassed. I also felt guilty for comparing my loss to the much bigger ones that existed around me.

I needed to make a change. For over thirty years, I had never met anyone who looked like me. I had never seen any photos or read any stories I could personally connect with about my alopecia. That all changed when I attended my first alopecia conference. I had already been writing about my own experience, but meeting exceptional people with alopecia allowed me to realize there were other stories to be shared.

I began writing Head-On, Stories of Alopecia. As story submissions came in, I discovered the one prevailing thread within all our stories was the road map of determination. Those maps all had different ways that led to where we wanted to be, and there wasn’t just one path to get there.

Finding my alopecia tribe, along with creating Head-On, Stories of Alopecia allowed my journey to unfold before me. I gave myself permission to feel grief (without guilt), to understand that loss was loss, to look at myself in the mirror and feel beautiful, to stop wanting to blend in for the sake of self-preservation. I finally realized I could serve others by my own experience. This led me to become a life coach.

It took decades to find my peace with alopecia, and I am passionate and committed to working with you to find answers, step forward, and reclaim your power. Let’s do this!
